Nemesis monster on monster legends9/23/2023 Somehow a 25+ year old game is more innovative than a AAA with more resources at its disposal than most nations. Okay guys, we had AAs (Alternate Advancement) way back with EQ. It is a Frankenstein system trying to be passed off as innovative. It feels really odd and pretends to be something new when it isn’t. You typically don’t feel anymore powerful really until you hit a Glyph. There is a lot of Horizontal progression masquerading as Vertical. Instead of the Skill Tree being dynamic, it gets tied to Paragon. Instead of leveling up attributes, you take it later in Paragon. This is an incremental power creep with Paragon that is really weird. You stop vertical progression really even though you gave 50 “new levels”. Then you move from WT1/WT2 and enter WT3. Story wise, you progress through the campaign. ![]() Vertical progression is easy and until 50, D4 performs about like you would expect. This means vertical and horizontal progression. ![]() The basic question they should have asked when designing Diablo 4 is “Is the game fun by itself without progression?” If the answer is no, you have to always have forms of progression.
